Characteristics
Steinchisma is defined by its gaping florets and its distinction from Otachyrium requires review. Previously these species were placed in Panicum. However, it has been found that Steinchisma is much more closely related to Paspalum (tribe Paspaleae) and distant from Panicum s.s.
