Description Very abundant in areas of open sand, often forming large mats; leaves with 9 leaflets common, some with 11, rarely 13; upper leaflet surface pilose; possibly som slight introgression and/or range overlap with Tephrosia chrysophylla in this area, and some atypical forms may also be associated with high levels of historical disturbance and aerial seeding of bahiagrass [Paspalum notatum] for cattle grazing, which has ecologically devastated this formerly floristically rich tract.

Description This specimen appears to be a hybrid; many plants at this site with leaflets glabrous above, but some with leaflets either pale or tawny antrorsely appressed pubescence above, most with 7 or fewer leaflets, many plants thus appear more similar to Tephrosia chrysophylla in general habit; probably a highly variable hybrid swarm of Tephrosia chrysophylla X T. mysteriosa; enigmatic populations like this one are not uncommon at disturbed site, and hybrids with Tephrosia florida are also present, adding to the variation and confusion.
Habitat Very small, disturbed, open, low sandy knoll; beige sand.

Description Many leaves with leaflet rows flexed upward into a "V", suggestive of Tephrosia chrysophylla influence, but possibly due to senescent conditions with begin in fall; leaves with up to 11 leaflets in this area (only a few plants checked); leaflets apiculate, somewhat shiny, mostly glabrate (at least at this time in the early fall), somewhat more diffusely arranged than Avon Park plants, possibly owing to the influence of disturbed soils.
Habitat Cleared former hickory [Carya floridana] scrub, now mostly ruderal, with Dicerandra frutescens (mostly all gone), Trichostema suffrutescens [T. dichotomum], Tragia urens, and Chapmannia floridana.

Description Locally abundant; many leaves with leaflet rows flexed upward into a "V", suggestive of Tephrosia chrysophylla influence, but possibly due to senescent conditions with begin in fall; leaves with up to 11 leaflets in this area (only a few plants checked); leaflets with upper surfaces moderately pilose (trichomes deciduous and mostly shed), not as robust and not as pilose as Avon Park forms.
Habitat Intermediate sandhill (xeric oak); in open patches of yellow sand.

Description Plant with long internodes, petioles too long, leaflet spacing too long, pseudoracemes too long, thus possibly a distant hybrid of Tephrosia florida and T. mysteriosa, but tentatively place with the latter because of leaflet dorsal surface pubescence and overall plant color.
Habitat Disturbed, formerly cleared sandhill; with Paronychia chartacea, P. herniarioides, Eriogonum floridanum, Bonamia grandiflora, Tradescantia, Galactia, Stylisma villosa, and Prunus geniculata.

Description Locally abundant. A single anomalous specimen was found in a sandy lawn in this region having leaflets with glabrous dorsal surfaces and a few axillary flowers, possibly an aberrant form, or a hybrid with Tephrosia chrysophylla, which occurs a short distance eastward in Hardee County.
Habitat Disturbed, overgrown, intermediate sandhill (turkey oak [Quercus laevis] barrens).
