Description Perennial, from a spreading crown, forming broad patches up to 1.0 m across; leaves mostly lower on branches; flowering stalks up to 6.0 dm; flowers bright blue, showy.
Habitat Old field recovering from past cultivation (c. 12 years in the past); many open sandy areas with Oxalis stricta, Linaria canadensis, Bromus tectorum, Krigia virginica, and Vulpa octoflora.
