Description Much branched tree ca. 12 ft. tall; flowers fragrant, incompletely open and somewhat funnel-shaped with petal tips recurved, sepals spread out; petals white, with purple markings near base; sepals pale green.
Habitat Disturbed ravine slopes in open (partially cut) mesic woods with Quercus laurifolia, Magnolia grandiflora, Ilex opaca, Cornus florida, and Fagus grandifolia.
