Piriqueta cistoides (L.)Griseb. subsp. caroliniana (Walter)Arbo
PITTED STRIPESEED
**
This taxon is very morphologicallly diverse in Florida, which has resulted in different taxonomic treatments. Arbo (1995) treated all Florida material as subsp. caroliniana, characterized as usually perennial plants with heterostylous flowers 11-20 mm long and leaf blades with revolute margins, contrasting with subsp. cistoides. Maskas & Cruzan (2000) recognized eight morphotypes that may have different biogeographic histories but now appear to interbreed.
