Asemeia violacea (Aubl.) J.F.B.Pastore & J.R.Abbott
SHOWY MILKWORT
**
In studying material from North, Central, and South America and the West Indies, Bernardi (2000) chose to recognize A. violacea as a wide-ranging species, including A. grandiflora described from the Carolinas in synonymy. Pastore & Abbott (2012) kept the two separate, but mentioned, along with three other taxa, that the differences are mainly geographic and appear to form a morphological continuum.
