Crataegus michauxii Pers.
MICHAUX'S HAWTHORN
**
Phipps & Dvorsky (2008) argued the name C. michauxii cannot be clearly applied, while Ward (2009) accepted the name. Various other names have been applied to specimens currently here under C. michauxii, some examples include C. attrita, C. egens, C. inops, C. integra, C. lacrimata, C. lepida, C. meridiana, C. munda, C. rava, C. recurva, C. vicana, and C. visenda. Crataegus flava had long been misapplied to specimens of this ilk (Phipps 1988; Phipps & Dvorsky 2007).
