Characteristics
Dicots
Conocarpus erectus L.
BUTTONWOOD
**
The petiolar glands of this species were described as nectar-secreting extrafloral nectaries (Díaz-Castelazo et al. 2005). The silvery pubescent form is sometimes recognized as C. erectus var. sericeus, although, as noted by Semple (1970) "The existence of a full continuum of intermediate forms between the glabrous and pubescent extremes even on the same branch dictates that varietal status for the extremes is unwarranted."
