Bauhinia blakeana, a commonly cultivated hybrid of B. purpurea and B. variegata, has a floral bud 5-winged distally, petals lanceolate to obovate, 5 stamens, 2-5 staminodes, and does not set fruit (De Wit 1956; Lau et al. 2005).
